Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.1: Empowered Learner
This was my first big project in Articulate Storyline. It is a reflection of the ISTE Standard 1.1d: Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies. I had to learn everything from square one, and any hiccup that I had, I needed to troubleshoot and find the information I needed on my own.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.2: Digital Citizen
This was one of my first infographics. It is an example of ISTE Standard 1.2c: Students demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the rights and obligations of using and sharing intellectual property. I made this in Canva and was sure to not include any outside images that I wouldn't have the rights to. This is something that I am very aware of in my designing. I only use assets that are available in the program where I am working, or do my research to make sure that I am authorized to use the asset.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.3: Knowledge Constructor
For ISTE Standard 1.3c: Students curate information from digital resources using a variety of tools and methods to create collections of artifacts that demonstrate meaningful connections or conclusions, I have chosen my 20 Years of Educational Technology infographic. For this assignment, we were to read an article and choose five events from the last twenty years to represent in the infographic. This is a fitting artifact for this standard because the information in the infographic was derived from an online textbook. I chose the five events that I thought represented the past twenty years as a whole.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.4: Innovative Designer
For ISTE Standard 1.4a: Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems, I have a safety training module that I created. Safety training can be very dry and not very engaging. For the fire training assessment, I used Adobe Illustrator and iSpring to create something a little more interactive. The learner has to click on any potential fire hazard in the image shown.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.5: Computational Thinker
To represent ISTE Standard 1.5b: Students collect data or identify relevant data sets, use digital tools to analyze them, and represent data in various ways to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making, I would like to reflect upon my time working at Horsepower Brands. At the time when I was working at Horsepower Brands, it was still a very new company. My manager was tasked with creating key performance indicators (KPI's) for our team. I suggested that we use learner data as one of our metrics. We worked together to find the best way to make this work with our LMS (NorthPass) and our SCORM product (iSpring). Working with our IT team, we were able to have all quiz results sent to a server so that we were more easily able to compile and compare data to measure our performance.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.6: Creative Communicator
For ISTE Standard 1.6b: Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations, I have a video I created on Mom Guilt. This video was created by using a free trial of Camtasia, as well as royalty free music and videos from pexels.com. I had to do a lot of research to make sure that the materials I was choosing were royalty free and able to be used without charge or attribution. I had to carefully select the videos to make sure they all contributed to the message that I was trying to portray through the video.
Evidence of ISTE Standard 1.7: Global Collaborator
To represent on ISTE Standard 1.7c: Students contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a common goal, I would like to reflect upon my time working at Horsepower Brands. I was tasked with taking the charge with creating content for one of our brands that was opening. This meant I was in charge of determining what content needed to be created, making the storyboards and drafts, and communicating and collaborating with my SME. This proved to be a very rewarding, yet intense experience. The SME I was working with was extremely knowledgable in her content and very particular in the finished project. One of my projects had three drafts before being approved. I also had to speak up for what I felt was right for the learner, which was an uncomfortable conversation to have, but overall, we were able to reach a compromise and work together to successfully complete the task.
